• Asbestos and Mesothelioma Center - The Center's website reveals the fact that more than 300 products, particularly those used by the Navy from the 1930s through the 1970s, contained asbestos.  That website states:

"Clearly, virtually no portion of a naval ship was asbestos-free between the '30s and mid-70s, making Navy veterans and shipyard workers one of the most at-risk groups for developing asbestos-related diseases."

  Asbestosnews.com is a site dedicated to providing news and information on mesothelioma, asbestosis, and other respiratory conditions caused by asbestos exposure. Veterans who served between the 1930s and 1970s faced a high-risk of asbestos exposure, particularly Navy veterans.

As our military veterans age, it becomes increasingly important to ensure their continued health, especially after they sacrificed so much for their nation.  Unfortunately, the dangers our veterans face do not end with the close of their military service. As a result of the materials used in many military applications, veterans of all military branches almost certainly encountered the toxin, asbestos, during their service. However, veterans of the navy and those who served on naval vessels face the highest risk because asbestos was such a prevalent insulator on-board.
